Phasmophobia 0.19: The Journal Clarifies Team Choices and Duplicate Recordings

The quality-of-life update changes map variants, the journal and recording equipment. A teammate’s selection reflects their assessment, rather than confirmed ghost evidence.

Team Selections Visible; Discuss Observations; Recognise Duplicate Recordings

Kinetic has revised several Phasmophobia systems in version 0.19. Prison, Brownstone and Point Hope receive Restricted variants that change the area available for investigation. This matters for shared objectives: a map variant and the standard map do not necessarily fulfil the same event condition.

The journal shows other players’ selected evidence and ghost type. This makes coordination easier, but does not replace discussing the actual observation. Checked evidence initially shows what a teammate selected. It does not establish that the corresponding signal was measured reliably.

Recognise Duplicate Photos and Recordings

Equipment indicates previously captured recordings in different ways. The Tier 1 photo camera uses a yellow LED. Tier 2 and 3 cameras, and video devices, display fainter text for duplicate recordings. The basic audio device dims its volume indicator; higher-tier devices show a fainter waveform.

This feedback helps distinguish a new recording that contributes to the investigation. It does not prevent every handling problem: the correct event type and recording time still matter.

“Items We’ve Found” replaces the old key section in the journal. It can contain bones and seasonal items alongside keys. Selecting a ghost type also highlights its required evidence.

Choosing a ghost freely in custom investigations sets the reward multiplier to zero. Those sessions do not contribute to the specified achievements and Leaflet objectives. You can use the mode to practise a mechanic, but should check the settings before trying to earn progress.

Text-based Spirit Box controls are simplified too: you can interact without picking up the device. The patch notes also mention networking fixes. This identifies issues that have been addressed, without promising a faultless connection in every situation.
