The Outlast Trials: What Remains After Chemical Leak

The gas event ended on October 6. Two MK-Challenges and changes to Invasion and Escalation remain relevant to ongoing play.

Chemical Leak has ended. Red Barrels closed the event on October 6 at 10 a.m. Eastern Time. Its catalogue was removed, and unused event tokens expire under the announced rules. Players joining now should not expect the Chemical Leak catalogue to remain accessible.

The lasting additions include the MK-Challenges Change the Program and Fund the Campaign. The temporary gas and valves belonged to the event variant. This distinction matters when older videos or task lists present all the changes together.

Changes to Invasion and Escalation

In Invasion, Evasive Manoeuvre regains a counter against attacks from behind. Neuroshock is automatically marked on the ground. Ex-Pops should no longer immediately target players after a knife attack. Players blocking one another are intended to be able to push through after half a second.

Red Barrels also adjusts revival during the exit phase and the behaviour of the Imposter’s hiding place. These affect specific match situations, without promising that every previously problematic session can be restored afterwards.

Escalation removes the Broken Reagent variator. Progress recovery after disconnects or crashes is improved. The explicitly stated tougher conditions still apply from Trial 21: permanent damage and no revivals.

Returning groups should therefore distinguish two things. The new challenges remain a reason to play. Recovering missed event items requires a newly confirmed date; September’s announcement does not extend the October window that has already ended.
