Dead by Daylight 10.2.0: When Can You Surrender or End a Match?

Abandon, Surrender and End Trial have different requirements. Human players, bots and the Dying State determine which applies.

Last Human + Bots: Abandon; Only Bots, Not All Down: Abandon; All Survivors Down: Surrender; Only Bots, All Down: End Trial

Version 10.2.0 distinguishes three options for ending specific match situations early. Their requirements are listed in the live patch notes. Earlier PTB wording may contain different conditions and is not an equivalent substitute for this version.

Role and SituationOption
You are the only remaining human Survivor; all other remaining Survivors are botsAbandon
Killer: All remaining Survivors are bots and at least one is not in the Dying StateAbandon
All Survivors are simultaneously in the Dying StateSurrender for Survivors
Killer: All remaining Survivors are bots and all are in the Dying StateEnd Trial

Check Why an Option Is Missing

  1. Check the remaining Survivors. Another human player changes the condition compared with an all-bot group.
  2. Distinguish the Dying State from being merely injured. The specified ground conditions require Survivors to be down simultaneously.
  3. Look for the name appropriate to the situation. Surrender replaces the earlier Abandon label for the corresponding downed-Survivor situation.
  4. Use the option offered by the current game. If the conditions are not met, leaving through another menu is not a confirmed equivalent alternative.

The conditions involving repeated recovery from the ground and lengthy periods without generator work were removed. Waiting periods from those older descriptions therefore do not reliably explain a missing button in 10.2.0.

The patch description establishes the triggers. It does not prove blanket exemption from penalties for every way of leaving a match, or identical rewards for every outcome. A menu exit should therefore be distinguished from an explicitly offered End Trial option.
